i seriously cannot stop listening to this remix.

i’ve sort of been really fond of Memory Cassette.

more Memory Tapes,

and i love Crystal Castles,

but the cool thing about remixes is that it combines the best of both worlds,

and this song exonerates that to the highest potential.

good news everyone.

one of my favorite punk bands of the 21st century has released new music.

that’s right.

the ubiquitous Titus Andronicus has decided to release a new single.

it’s called “My Eating Disorder,”

and despite the fact that there is no OFFICIAL recording aside from a live recording,

it’s pretty kickazz.

i’m pretty excited to hear what this sounds like as a full band recording.

to get to hear Patrick scream into the microphone again.

it sounds pretty good, as it is.

but it’s just missing that full band aesthetic that makes some songs great.

who knows.

maybe a full band would ruin it.

maybe a full band would make it Song of the Year.

i’m trying to get into a greater groove regarding this music blogging thing.

haven’t been keeping to my word.

i apologize.

anyway, there’s this new guy out there they call “Perfume Genius,”

although, i guess he’s not really that “new,”

he’s been around since 2008;

first album in 2010.

he released a new album a week ago.

“Put Your Back N 2 It,”

very deep.

very forboding.

also kind of piano driven.

this guy’s voice is so nice and soft.

although kind of troubled.

you can hear a sort of melancholy in it.

i kind of enjoy this.

but there’s another part of me that just thinks “Regina Spektor,”

now, i realize that i’m posting on Tumblr.

“Land of the Plebs, Home of the Lame,”

and to you, Regina Spektor is “a GENIUUUUUUUUS!”

but i don’t really like Regina Spektor that much.

nor do i like a lot of piano based rock music.

i don’t know.

i kind of like this.

i kind of don’t.

it’s gorgeous.

it sounds gorgeous.

nice and relaxing.

it sounds like the stuff from Lucky Shiner.

that was a good album.

Companion was good, too.

i just recently discovered this band, Cloud Nothings.

they’re pretty nice.

their music definitely reminds me a lot of bands like The Pixies.

and that nice dreary voice sounds pretty cool, also.

anyway, they put their new album up for stream on Carpark Records.

Carpark has released a lot of “zingers” in the past.

hopefully, this album lives up to expectations.

just based on this mix, it clearly will.

definitely listen through this mix and enjoy.

that’s just to make up for slacking off since the start of the school year.

just those three things alone make me sort of use The Shins as my model band.

anyway, this new song definitely appears to be a step in a different direction.

it’s not quite Wincing.

it’s not quite Chutes.

it’s not quite Inverted.

it’s wonderful.

i’m too psyched about their newest album.

i loved the last three.

own them all in hard press.

hope to do the same.

a good band innovates their sounds.

a bad band doesn’t.

The Shins are a good band,

and they’re also a classic.

i hope James will come back to Burque.

play a show at Popejoy.

first “big single” of the year.

i used to be a huge Sleigh Bells fanatic around the time “Treats” dropped.

but then kids and commercials made them seem lame and jock-ish.

i will say that i’m quite content with this new song though.

they still have that “shout-chorus-at-the-football-games” sound,

but as they’ve added the bass drum rolls in their song

and that calming choral guitar

i eagerly await Sleigh Bells’ new album.
